David L. Michael
Executive Director/CEO
(david@hahabitat.org)
August 1, 2006 was a very special day in David's life. That was the day he joined Huntington WV Area Habitat for Humanity as Executive Director/CEO. Bringing with him 20+ years of community development work in the Tri-State, David worked on projects that involved collaborating with areas in need of public utilities, economic development, etc. However, he felt something was missing. David found the missing component when he answered God's call for his life and submitted his resume to Habitat for the position of Executive Director/CEO. “I am blessed and humbled to be a part of a fantastic organization. God's grace and love never ceases to amaze me. I am as excited today about Habitat as I was on the day I accepted this position. ”
Jennifer R. Hatten
Director of Development & Communications
(jennifer@hahabitat.org)
Jennifer joined Habitat in September 2010. Bringing with her a variety of professional experience from both for-profit and non-profit entities, Jennifer desired a career where she could use her skill set to help others and be of service to God. She is happy that God lead her to Habitat. As Director of Development & Communications, Jennifer oversees the fundraising and marketing efforts of the affiliate. According to Jennifer, her favorite part of the job is house dedication celebrations. “It is a humbling and uplifting experience when you witness a family receive a personalized family bible and the keys to their new home. When you realize that you played a part in making that happen, however big or small, it is a blessing beyond measure."
Nikki Hagerman
Administrative Assistant
(nikki@hahabitat.org)
Nikki came to Habitat in June of 2008. She previously spent time in the corporate world, but always knew that she wanted to work in a nonprofit like Habitat. Nikki applied for a position right out of college, however, God had other plans. When the position of administrative assistant opened, she knew it was the time to make her move. Working with Habitat has been a life changing experience for Nikki. “When you get the chance to work with the homeowners from application through dedication, it makes what we do worth it. ” One of her favorite memories is of when a partner family who had previously been denied was finally told that she was approved and would be getting a house. To see the tears of joy on the homeowners face was one of the best moments in her career with the affiliate. Nikki hopes to be with Habitat for a long time to come.
Ken Jordan
Construction Supervisor
(ken@hahabitat.org)
Ken’s career with Huntington WV Area Habitat for Humanity began in April of 2010. Following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, Ken worked for 30 years in residential construction. Oddly enough, his job as a Cabell Country School’s bus driver led him to the affiliate. It was while transporting students from Cabell County Career Technology Center (CCCTC) to work on their partnership house with Huntington WV Area Habitat for Humanity that Ken learned the affiliate was in need of a construction site supervisor. He applied, was hired and the rest is history. When asked about his favorite part of the job, Ken says, “I enjoy working with the volunteers, particularly our regular volunteers. To me they are the true meaning of Habitat. They spend countless hours in all weather conditions expecting nothing in return; they just want to help others. They are great people and they make my job a lot of fun.
