Building on Faith
A Special Celebration Event
Building on Faith is an annual week-long celebration of church partnerships and a worldwide sermon of God’s love. During this week, local Habitat affiliates and their church partners host building events and celebrations.
Event Timing
Traditionally, Building on Faith is connected with the Day of Prayer, celebrated in the days leading up to the third weekend in September. However, Building on Faith events may be organized at any time during the year. Some groups may prefer a spring project or an event that coincides with a special time in the life of the church.
Event Size
Building on Faith events can be grand. For example, local and international church partners once built 16 houses in El Salvador during their celebration. In other areas, a leap of faith may be a smaller step. Building a simple, decent house for a family in need is a perfect event. No matter the size, Building on Faith events should mobilize the faith community to build houses as an expression of God’s love.
Event Benefits
Building on Faith events have become a way for local Habitat affiliates to get churches excited and involved in our work.
