Volunteer Spotlight
We would like to send a big thank you to all the 2011 Collegiate Students who spent their spring break in Huntington. The students from Boston College, Montclair University and Rutgers University were a great addition to the worksite. We hope to have the opportunity to see them again soon. Below are a few quotes from the students who participated in the 2011 Collegiate Challenge:
“This sounds cliché, but I went with the expectation to help someone, but I ended up being helped by the people I was helping. The people at the Huntington affiliate and the people of the community went above and beyond our expectations in providing an amazing week. Everyone in my group said that this week was one of the best weeks of their life."
“The people of Habitat and Huntington were so hospitable and friendly. It was so different from the lifestyle in NJ. One of the cars we took got a flat tire about an hour and 30 minutes from Huntington after every auto repair shop was closed, but David Michael drove out of his way to come pick us up and made sure that the car was fixed. The building job was also a blast because I got to bond with my friends and with the volunteers of WV. It will be an experience I will never forget. ”
“I feel so blessed to have met each and every one of you. I enjoyed every moment of my time here and fell in love with Huntington. Thank you for igniting a fire in my heart for volunteering and kindness that I am positive will never burn out. ”
